We have a very limited supply of this delicious and unique coffee - which hails from microlot - so order now before we run out! We will begin roasting & shipping the first round of orders on September 20/21.
Microlot coffees represent a producer’s best crops and are cultivated and harvested independently from the rest of a farm's products. They are also processed more meticulously – in this case honey-processed!
During the honey process, coffee is dried with some or all of the mucilage encasing the seed (beans) of the coffee cherry. The mucilage is sticky and slimy, so it is sometimes called "honey" - which is how the process gets its name. The mucilage ferments slightly as it dries, which lends a complexity to the flavour profile of the coffee.
Cenfrocafe, a producer cooperative located in Jaén, Peru, was founded in 1999. It serves more than 2,000 farmer members within the lush Cajamarca region. From technical assistance and quality control workshops for their farmers to economic and leadership training for youth in rural communities, Cenfrocafe works not only to support the commercial endeavors of its members but also to facilitate the development of their communities as a whole.
